Green Home, houses built in an environment-friendly way

Living healthy also means living green, loving the environment.

It is very interesting to note that there is one company in the business of building houses that incorporates its own love for the environment in the making of a house.

Greenovate Corporation's Green Home uses environment-friendly designs and affordable construction materials which help conserve earth's resources and at the same time provide their clients a comfortable and earth-friendly home. Green Home construct houses on those who already have lots.

I had the opportunity of visiting their 2.2 M-worth model house near Country Mall, in front of Petron (Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City).

What I noticed right away is the neatly-finished concrete. According to Green Home's Flord Nicson Calawag (who may be contacted at 09176315777 or through email at, the concrete is made of Vazbuilt Pre-fab concrete panels which is characterized by clean lines, strong forms and strength which does not crack. Since it is prefab, the concrete is easy to assemble translating to less building time and no requirement for heavy equipment.

The roof according also to Mr. Calawag is made of Onduline Roof sheet, a long-lasting and extremely tough, lightweight corrugated roofing that does not rust. It is waterproof, weather-proof, resistant to rot, maintenance-free, resist chemicals and corrosion and is NOT made of asbestos.

Touring the ground floor of the house, one would notice the LED light fixtures. LED products are believed to last longer and consume less electricity than light bulbs. LED lights do not have easy to break filament and do not contain mercury.

The wooden floor is made of APO Real Engineered Wood and it is believed to have more resistance to high moisture levels than solid wood flooring which is perfect for areas in the country that have higher relative humidity levels.

The house is well ventilated with high ceiling and windows on top for better air circulation. Hot air can rise up producing a cooling effect. The windows are made of Breezway Louver Windows

The above picture is the rain water catchment basin which can be used for washing clothes and watering plants which prefer non-chlorinated water.

Other add-ons which can be offered depending on the package availed is the Edward Marcs Solar-assisted Aircon powered by Solar energy, Security cameras and the Tibiao Fish Spa right at your home.
The Tibiao Fish spa is the same fish spa found in Parkmall with the "thera-fish" nibbling your dead skin away. The Thera-fish are not Piranhas so there is no need to fear here.

If you want to see the Green Home model for yourself, visit it at Sitio Baka, corner Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City or call 032.416.2511 or email

  1. Security cameras are important in these types of places.

  2. I agree with the comment. It is important to install security cameras like CCTV cameras and other security devices to ensure the safety of the whole family. CCTV Bristol

  3. This is a good housing project. Before we build any infrastructures, we must first take note that mother earth is our real home and we must take care of it. Conveyancers Darwin
